A View into the Womb

From GE Healthcare, inventors of the "4D" ultrasound, this cool page features a prenatal timeline of growth and development from 6 weeks gestation to full term. By clicking on the week, you can see an ultrasound image of an unborn child of that age, plus relevant developmental information. For example, Week 6 notes that the heart beats "at around 100-115 beats per minute," while important developments in Week 9 include: "hands that flex at the wrist" and "visible fingers and toes." The picture shown is their image of an unborn baby at 16 weeks. See more here.

Great resource to accompany study of prenatal development or simply to marvel at the complex process.

Another fun page GE offers is a "virtual 4D ultrasound."
